Taking a Sabbatical

After working for so many years in a job that was highly stressful and challenging, I knew I had to do something otherwise my way of life will bring me to a slow and painful death. My lifestyle has brought about late night working and skipping meals, not having enough time to exercise and being too drained from work I no longer had a social life. Being in the advertising industry has its perks, and it was something I always wanted to do. But at this point in my life I had to take a step back and give myself a sabbatical. It was that, or taking a toll on my health.

So I quit my job, sat down and thought about what I wanted to do. I had a lot of time in my hands, and I figured since I always wanted to get myself on treks and do a bit of climbing, I figured that sense of adventure would be of interest since I would miss that rush I get from the work that I do. So I bought myself a sturdy backpack and a Swissgear Kanderstag backpack tent, and I mapped out all the places I wanted to go to. It has been three months since I quit, and never did I regret having to leave something I thought I would love to do for the rest of my life. I don’t know if I’m coming back to the industry. All I know is that I have a lot of other places to discover and more peaks to climb, and there’s a high chance that I wouldn’t stop enjoying myself. After all, I deserve a break.

It’s a jungle out there. We all find ourselves in the complex web of city living, rushing out to get to our jobs, getting our errands done and trying to survive or be kicked out. Our busy schedules and hectic work weeks can beat the hell out of us. And before we even get to have a deep rest after a day’s work, our alarm starts buzzing and we are yet to find ourselves again commuting to work. Going through all that day after day can be tough.

For those who are always on the go and rushing to accomplish what they need, having daypacks is fairly convenient. You can easily store everything you need in this bag, go on out to work and go straight to the gym with your workout clothes right there with you. People with busy lives have to plan well and have all their gear in check when they need it. Having a daypack is your best bet for worry free packing for all your essentials.

No need to worry about taking everything that you need and more. Just pack away and you can be assured that you won’t have any problems as you trek later on. The internal frame backpack is the most recent innovation in backpacks, invented in 1967 by Greg Lowe, who founded Lowe Alpine and Lowepro, two companies that specialize in backpacks and other forms of carrying bags for different kinds of equipment. The Alps Mountaineering Cascade 5200 is a popular internal backpack choice in the ALPS mountaineering line. It features a large zippered pocket on each side of the pack designed to provide easy access to certain items when you’re out on the trail.

Aside from these large outside pockets, it also has lower side bottle pockets, a large front pocket, and #10 zippers on the lower door offering convenient access to equipment below the internal horizontal divider. The Cascade 5200 has the Comfort Glide Suspension System which allows you to adjust to that perfect point. It also has the SoftEdge shoulder straps for maximum comfort. The Air Mesh on the inside of the belt stretches with the foam eliminating wrinkles that rub against your body.

Photographer’s Adventures

A nature lover, I have always engaged in backpacking trips to enjoy the natural scenery and the adventures that lay before me on these nature escapades. A photographer by profession, I usually make it a point to bring along my Zion backpack to carry around my SLR camera and capture magnificent scenery when I go out for these trips. Capturing natural imagery in film is absolutely beautiful.

My recent adventure has taken me to a Zion backpack trip at the Zion National Park. With caves and rivers to explore, my trip involved point and shoot moments with my camera. Endless trails and cool weather welcomed me and my hiking friends. These adventures are the highlight of my awesome life.

There are different types of backpacks available that allow for items to be carried directly on the body while still allowing the free use of both hands. For hikers, the most common types of hiking backpacks are day packs, internal frame packs, and external frame packs. Each type of these backpacks are designed for specific purposes and generally carry different amounts of cargo. The sizes and shapes of hiking backpacks vary significantly and are usually measured in cubic centimeters or cubic inches.

Day packs are designed for short hikes during the day or even for short overnight trips. These packs normally do not have any solid frame because they are not large enough to require one. External frame hiking backpacks are affixed to a solid metal or plastic frame to increase support especially for carrying heavy loads. An internal frame hiking backpack is also a larger backpack, although the frame is built inside the hiking backpack instead of on the outside.

When we talk backpacks, we usually have in mind children’s schoolbags. These are usually colorful and made of durable water proof materials. Factors to consider in purchasing a backpack for the child is the size of the bag. It should be the right size and weight for the child’s size and age. It should also have enough compartment space for everything that is needed in the school.

Backpacks are more than children’s school bags. They are used by almost everyone. Backpacks used by campers have entirely different specifications. They are usually wider to spread the weight on a significant portion of the back. They need pockets to organize smaller gear items. In both instances, a leather backpack will provide better service.
